What This Service Involves

When Cascade-foothill properties face temperatures below the effective range of any salt, sand provides immediate grip underfoot and under tires without relying on a chemical reaction. We spread washed traction sand across parking lots, ramps, and walkways during hard freezes and on packed snow that will not melt off in the weak Pacific Northwest winter sun. Sand also complements a light salt pass, delivering grip now while the deicer works over the following hours. Because it leaves grit behind, we plan a spring sweep to keep it out of drains and landscaping.

Our Process

1) Assess whether temperatures are too low for effective salting; 2) Clear loose snow to expose the packed ice surface; 3) Broadcast washed traction sand across travel and walking paths; 4) Schedule a spring sweep to remove residual grit
