Keeping You Moving. Beyond Expectations.
Clearing of tight urban and residential alleyways that plows cannot easily reach but tenants and trucks still depend on.
Alleys in Roy are tight. A truck has little room to push snow, and there is often nowhere to put it. Washington Snow Removal clears alleyways in Roy, Pierce County, with plow trucks, a compact track loader and hand crews where a truck cannot fit.
Roy gets about 6.2 in of snow in an average season, and only 1.8 days a year bring 1 in or more. Freezing nights are more common, at 42 from October through April. We are licensed, bonded and insured. Call 206-809-9669 to talk through your alley.

An alley has walls, fences, garages and parked cars close on both sides. Clearing one means moving snow along its length and finding a spot to stack it without blocking a garage door or a neighbor's access. In narrow spots we can use the Kubota SCL1000 compact track loader, which handles tight turns better than a full-size truck. Crew members clear gates, steps and the edges by hand.
Roy's pattern is mostly light snow with a few hard hits. The plow events average 1.82 a season, and the area sees 0.57 Winter Storm Warnings a year. Since 2005 there have been 11 winter storm and heavy snow reports. The biggest storm was Jan 15-19, 2012, with 12.9 in total and 8.3 in on the heaviest day. Feb 5-6, 2017 brought 9.9 in, and Nov 22-23, 2010 brought 7.3 in.
With 42 freezing nights, ice matters as much as depth. Shaded alleys can stay slick after the snow is gone, so salt or ice melt is often part of the job.
