HOA Deicing in Roy: What the Service Involves
Most winter trouble in Roy is ice, not deep snow. Snow lies on the ground about 4 days a year, but there are 42 freezing nights from October to April. About 3.45 light-snow days a year need deicing. Thin snow and refrozen melt can leave common areas slick before anyone is up.
Ice storms are rare here. Two have been logged since 2005: Jan 19, 2012 and Dec 23, 2022. An HOA still needs a plan for them, since ice on private roads and walkways is a real liability for the association.
A typical HOA deicing visit can include:
- Spreading bulk salt or bagged ice melt on community streets and parking areas
- Hand treating sidewalks, steps, mailbox areas and clubhouse entries
- Shoveling or hand work by crew members where trucks cannot reach
