What Snow Hauling Involves at Roy Properties
Hauling starts after plowing. A truck and driver or a compact track loader pushes and stacks snow, then the snow is loaded and taken off the site. In Roy, the plow count is low. An average season has 1.82 plow events. Most winters will not need hauling at all.
When it does come up, the cause is usually a heavy event. Roy's logged storms include Heavy Snow on Dec 26, 2021 and Feb 8, 2019. There was also an Ice Storm on Jan 19, 2012, after Heavy Snow on Jan 18, 2012. Snow that sits and refreezes is harder to move, and Roy sees 42 freezing nights from Oct to Apr.
Small sites often only need a plow pass and some deicing. The area has about 3.45 light-snow days per season that call for deicing. Hauling makes sense when stacked snow takes up needed space.
