What ADA access clearing involves at Roy properties
Accessible routes are small and exact. A plow cannot clear a curb ramp or the striped access aisle beside a van stall. Our crews do this work by hand, then treat the surface so it does not refreeze.
At a typical Roy property, the work covers:
- Curb ramps and the landings at their base
- Accessible parking stalls and striped access aisles
- Paths from those stalls to the entrance
- Door approaches and thresholds
Roy does not get much snow. With 6.2 in per season and 1.8 days of 1 in or more, the bigger problem is often ice. There are 42 freezing nights from Oct to Apr, and about 3.45 light-snow days a year need deicing. A thin layer of ice on a ramp can block access just as a drift can.
Bigger events do happen. Our logged Roy-area events include an ice storm on Dec 23, 2022, heavy snow on Dec 26, 2021, a winter storm on Feb 12, 2021, and heavy snow on Dec 21, 2008.
Pricing is straightforward. Crew members are $110 per person-hour, and bagged ice melt is $45 per 50 lb bag. Roy is in zone D, with a trip charge of $525 per dispatch. Each dispatch has a 2-hour minimum. Roy is 104 minutes from our Bothell yard.
