Brine application lays down a liquid salt solution that stops ice from bonding to pavement before a storm arrives.
Anti-icing brine is one of the most effective tools for Western Washington's predictable freezing-rain and frost events, where forecasters give ample warning of an incoming cold front. We spray a calibrated salt-water solution across lots and walkways hours ahead of the weather so ice never gets a chance to grip the surface. Because the liquid clings where dry crystals would bounce and scatter, brine uses far less total salt than reactive spreading. This pretreatment approach is especially valuable on the bridges, ramps, and shaded pavement that frost over first around the Puget Sound region.
